Anyone got an opinion on 32" lcd screens. I plan to purchase one with a quad core PC for the arcade cabinet. I'm wondering whether to lump out the extra few hundred £'s for a 100Mhz instead of 50Mhz screen..
Thoughts please?
P.S. I plan to run modern PC games as well as old arcade games etc.. Will 100Mhz see me any benefits?

I keep hearing 15Mhz is the key for running Mame games at native res.. I am currently running 30 on my XBR Sony CRT WS TV and everything looks great! I took my setup over to a friend’s house and ran it on his LCD; I thought it even looked better!! Nice and bright, no ghosting or anything.
Soon I will be in the process of putting my setup in a cabinet. I don’t plan on running at 15 MHz as I want to use my current high end graphics card.
It’s a lot of personal opinion. I have seen the native videos of Mame running on YouTube and personally I think the non-native looks better in some cases.

i have a 26" lcd samsung in my cabinet, and it is very nice in mame....
looks great in windows as well
should be fine either way i would think... just make sure the lcd has a vga in, as component and hdmi from a pc always gives me problems

Oh really. I was banking on HDMI of the HD LCD for the crisp connection. Does that mean PC HDMI is different to say PS3 or other HD Sources? Doesn't sound right to me.....

I've just plumpt for a £500 (inc delivery) 32" Panasonic Viera 100Mhz TX32LXD70. A couple hundred more than the lcd I was going to buy, but it wasn't branded or have 100Mhz. Fools and their money !!!

Yes, on its way. You just need to sign for it. Do enjoy...
Seriously, I hope it's a good bit of kit. My mate always harks on about Panasonic. I've always been a Sony fan, so it's a bit of a punt. Budget was £500, so I'm bang on with it. Leaves me approx £600 to £700 to purchase and build new PC. Quad core me thinks.... To future proof it.

tk375,
Thanks. I plumpt for a Panasonic 32" Viera 100Mhz model just after I originally posted this. Got it for approx £480 instead of the cheapest £600-£700 that I could find on net. I started her up with Wii on Friday when I received it and have now hung it on the wall. Although, I've put it on a swing arm lcd wall mount (60 Degree's left and right and 15 degree's tilt back/forward. Although I need people to see monitor as they step up to cabinet, I want to be able to title screen round 60 Degs for use with Wii in more open space. The problem with this is that I purchased mount knowing it is 5" in depth when folded in. I forget to account for the additional 4" of LCD!!! Therefore, it over hangs the cabinet layout a little. I've now raised a little more and it's not too bad, just annoyingly frustrating as I didn't think about it. The Wii output is great through Scart and I look forward in getting HD component out instead. I'll not know how good pc/hdmi out is until next weekend (when I get new quad core pc)..
Thanks for help/time..

OMG OMG OMG !!!
Just hooked up Thinkpad to Panasonic via VGA cable and it's crystal clear.. In fact, it's amazingly clear to the point that I hate dropping back to thinkpad lcd (although resolution is higher here, so I guess I'm exagerating).
Had a few problems with HS, until I thought about checking resolution and refresh in settings.ini. True enough, dropped it to 1024x768@75hz and all is working. Wow, Wow, Wow...
I just need to hook up controls now and purchase a PC. I remember on lcd in office going from vga to hdmi was a huge impact. Wondering how much difference it's going to make to panasonic as the vga was truely beautiful.. I just can't wait...
