I'm having a horrible time trying to get anything working with emulators in Hyperspin.. I don't see why such a great looking FE has to have such a horible way to set it up.. For what ever reason it doesn't want to see any of my roms.. Absolutely none of them. No matter what system I try.. Everytime I try to start a game I get this..

I've tried using the HyperLists that are on this site, and it says that my collections are named correctly.. Just nothing wants to start.. I was really hoping 1.0 was going to be easier.. I see I was wrong..

Whats so horrible, its very easy to setup. Try following our instructions on the docs page. I can set mame up in like 5 clicks. If thats hard then I dont know what isnt.

Oh and by the way its not very hard to figure out what that error your getting is, it basically means that the path to your rom is either wrong, your rom isnt that exact name, or you didnt enter the extension properly in your configuration. 99% of these issues is due to user error, not the program.

Well it was working for .8 or what ever the last version was.. The paths are correct, the extensions are correct.. I just don't see why it can't just auto detect roms and put them in the list.. It'd make it so much easier..

I was able to get MAME working, however I had to go threw using RomLister to make my rom list. Which actually was quite nice to be able to not have 8k roms in a single wheel and be able to filter it out a bit.. As for the other emulators no luck.. Like I said I've tried syncing the Dats on HyperList and adding the .xml as well to no luck..

Show me your mame ini file, just the exe portion and show me a screenshot of your directory where your roms are.

Well actually like I said I got MAME working and that looks to be alright.. Atm I'm syncing my SNES collection, but thats taking forever for it to rename everything.. I'll see how things go from there..

The only other real problem, tho its not really a problem. Is that atm everything is just very plain.. I wish you had a torrent of wheel images for MAME, or even the themes or something.. Torrent would be so nice, since I read people are having issues with ftp..

Is it possible to get the dat files on here made in the RomCenter format, I've been using that as I like it a little more, and it doesn't load the genesis.dll plugin properly even if I add the line to it..

try removing the spaces between your rom extensions

Torrent would be so nice, since I read people are having issues with ftp..

FTP issues were resolved a few days ago when BBB upgraded the server. You will not see a torrent any time soon.

billpa is correct. Things have been lightening up on the ftp. However, that won't affect you in any case until you become a gold member and get that access. Do consider a donation as it will get you good access. I haven't had any problems getting on in a few minutes the past couple of days.

BoredOne: I believe the Genesis dat is available from HyperList Online, but it's written in ClrMamePro / No-Intro format. I have had no issue loading it into Rom Center when I did some testing prior to creating the feature.

[edit]
Here is a direct link if needed, but it looks like your ROM's are correct from what I could see. I believe the issue is with your config of the console with how you have spaces in the extensions so HyperLaunch will never find it since it's looking for the space to exist in the extension (IE: ". bin" instead of ".bin")

Yea your right it was the space that was the issue.. The thing with the dat and romcenter is that it will load the dat, but unless its in the RC format and has "plugin=(emulator).dll" it won't load the correct plugin for Romcenter. Which makes it a big issue because otherwise it'll use arcade.dll and will use the title with the crc check. So you'll just get a bunch of grey games and it won't tell you if its named wrong or not.. When it uses the correct plugin it skips the title check and give the correct crc of the game, but if their all No-Intro I can easily grab the RC dat from their site and use that..

If your roms are No-Intro sets then setting up all emulators takes just a matter of minutes. Since I've only ever used No-Intro rom sets; I've never had any issues with roms not running.

For me to setup HyperSpin for all systems it may take me about an hour to get all cart based emulators up and running.

As far as other front ends filtering roms... They use database files that were created by another frontend author and then ripped off by others to use. HyperSpin decided to not use this method due to the other FE's authors feelings towards HS.
