Makaron or NullDC?

Hey guys which emulator should i use for hyperspin? I used to use nulldc in .8 but i hated it cause joystick support was such a bitch! =( Got a few questions for you.

Primarily just looking for something to emulate dreamcast so which does a better job?

I downloaded a preconfigured makaron using manaload i read in the autohokey loader you have to use closemul or something to get it exit right with hyperspin? where do i get this?

I know Naomi is sega arcade but did it have more games than the dreamcast? Like are there games between the two systems that the other does not have?

Are the Naomi versions of the same games on the dreamcast superior in quality?

Aren't some Naomi games emulated by MAME? or is the emulation terrible and you really need something like Makaron to get all of them working?

Whats the best Naomi game? =)

For Naomi emulation I personally go with Makaron. I found NullDC support basically nonexistent and setup wasn't the most straightforward process. The clincher for me was title and joystick support. NullDC for Naomi is strictly KB only so if you're not using KB inputs for this you'll need a 3rd party program (Xpadder,joy2key etc.) But title support was the biggie. Unless I completely missed something Makaron supports way more Naomi titles and isn't that what matters most, games?

As far as DC goes I've been wondering the same thing. I currently use NullDC but I'm less that happy with it and hope someone that knows about the differences would be willing to give a side-by-side of NullDC vs. Makaron for Dreamcast emulation.

Thanks for the input guys. i go the latest version of makaron T12 and i see the bios and i loads ok.. but then black screen nothing happens.. none of the games work even tho i know they worked on nulldc..

They are all GDI format.. is makaron getting stuck on the encryption? Do i need to decrypt them for it to run on makaron?

Wow tired. so getting all my facts straight here. Its actualy CDI format that was giving me black screens. I guess makaron only likes GDI format since its working now with GDI.

Also i kept getting this error with it and took a while to realize the process was not closing when i exit the emulator. its still running so i had like 3 processes of makaron running. once i close them all no more errors.

Right now my only issue is the joystick input on my xbox controller which works perfectly in the bios but does not seem to be working in the games. =( hopefully i can fix this.. otherwise i think its better than nulldc so far. =)

So am i the only one here trying dreamcast games with makaron? I have managed to get all them working well now. The issue is the xbox controller is not working.. It works in the dreamcast bios screen where you set the clock..

But once game loads none of my gamepad buttons work. I just copied the jvs.ini script someone posted for mame default keys in naomi figured they should work for makaron running dreamcast.

So far its not working. i tried to edit makaron.ini and add padcfg=1 so it would ask me which controller to use but thats not working either.. using T12 version

I just want to confirm to get game input to work in dreamcast or naomi do you have to use xpadder? i can do that its just so far i can't even get the keyboard mappings working let alone the gamepad.

What sort of setup do you need for Makaron Naomi to run well? I tried running Ikarugu that ran fine but Virtua Tennis had corrupted graphics (I am only using a on board graphics card) on a Intel Core 2 Duo, do all the games actually work?
