Hi,
I'm using Project 64 1.6 and in Hyperspin I get the error "Attempt to open file failed" when I select a game. I mananaged to get a copy of 1.7 and it did the same, which am I doing wrong. Am I supposed to edit some files, if so what?
Many thanks.
1.7.49 works fine for me.. you should make sure the emulator and your roms are working first. the error you get is generated by project64 not hyperspin.

Everything does work when not in Hyperspin, always has, but not in Hyperspin as mentioned.
Well i already told you what version of project64 worked for me.. i have only seen this error when using hyperspin with 1.6. I have never seen this error when using 1.7. So no special tricks or any custom ahk scripts required as long as your using the right version.. it worked right out of the box.
search in the forums i have seen dozens of project 64 posts with tips etc.

I was under the same problem with Project64 1.6, I finally found the 1.7.0.49. This version worked perfectly with Hyperspin on Windows 7 Ultimate 32. I did not add any configs to make it work.

I was having the same problem. Went out and got 1.7 and still no luck. Then I realized that my Rom names were a mess. Still trying to learn clrmamepro, so I went ahead and manually changed the names of the 3 roms I was testing to match the names found in hyperspin/databases/nintendo64 and they worked!
Now I understand the importance of updating my roms with the proper .dat file. Really have to figure out this clrmamepro monster though.
try rom2xml (downloads - hyperspin section -> 9. 3rd party applications)
I didn't tried it yet but will soon
I saw somewhere the hyperlist (app that can do the same thing - xml from roms) is not compatible with 1.1 and was removed to not cause trouble. I hope that this one will work
what version of HS are you people using 1.0 or 1.1?
I now have 1.1 but no games yet, just wheels :)
btw can I use ziped roms with HS and project64 or do I have to unzipp them?
zipped roms works fine with my project64. so should work for you too.
yup just tried - 1.7.0.49 works flawlessly on hs 1.1 with new xml created with hyperrom2xml
there is no need to unzip files, just run rom2xml on roms directory (however you will loose genres and other atributes - you get only game list)
1.6 and false version 1.7.0.55 don't work with HS

Using Project64 1.6 I received the error message "Attempt to open file failed" when loading a rom from hyperspin or the windows command prompt.
I upgraded to Project64 1.7.0.10 and don't have any problems.
I am using Windows 7

Hi guys - I am getting the same error when using Project 64 1.7.0.49 (Attempt to open file failed) The funny thing is, Project 64 1.6 works fine, which suggests the problem is not related to my Nintendo 64 database. (Which I've created a clean copy of with HyperROM2XML.
I've also checked my Hyperspin script file and ensured there are no inverted commas in my Nintendo 64 section as per some other posts I've seen.
Bit stumped really, as Project 64 1.7 works fine standalone, just not with Hyperspin. Guess I could stick with PJ 1.6 as this is working fine with Hyperspin, however it would be nice to upgrade.
If anyone has any further suggestions let me know!
Cheers

Try to run PJ64 again then go to your hyperspin folder and post what is in the log.txt

I seem to be having the same problem here... I am fairly new to this but have caught on very fast! I just recently donated to get access to ftp but was rather disapointed when i found out that the hyperspin ftp and emumovies ftp were seperate but no big deal i got a lot of material i did not have before and i thank everyone who put in all this hard work to make this even possible!
back to proj 64..i also in the beginning was using version 1.6 and at first it started the first game fine without hyperlaunch i jus had to hit the escape key to bring up the emu. but the rest said attemt to open file failed so i downloaded 1.7.49 and it did the same thing...i see in this post people are saying 1.6 works for them and 1.7 works for them..could this be due to different computer settings or something? i can run every single n64 game outside of hyperspin perfectly...Looks great as a matter of fact! But nothing in hyperspin..this is the emulator i wanted to play most and i have just about every other emulator working beautifully through hyperspin except proj 64! Please Help!
