Quick Noob Question

How do you use .dat files to rename both roms and snaps to match? Can you use for example a Sega Genesis .dat to properly rename all corresponding Sega Genesis roms, snaps, titles, carts, emumovies, manuals, etc?

Is RomCenter the tool to use or no? I am clueless when it comes to .dats. In the past I have just hoped that everything matches up when I load roms and snaps and such into frontends.

I have used Clrmame with ease. I fumbled thru it and after five minutes of trial and error everything went smooth (should have just looked for instructions). Remeber to use the no intro dats.
