So I picked up the override transition packs on the weekend and and just wanted to say a bit about them.
1. Arcade Override Transitions Volume 1
In this pack there are transitions designed specifically for games. I think the concepts/art that was chosen for the transitions fits each game perfectly and were very creative. They don't feel one bit generic at all. I also think some of the transitions could be used for other games that make sense even on other systems. For instance: The Ninja Turtles (pizza) transition could be used for the Popcap game Pizza Frenzy. The caveman Ninja (Bones) could be used for the Space Invaders game where you can be a dog that shoots bones. (I forget the name, my daughter loves the game)
So if you think about it you are buying 30 transitions in this pack but are really getting like double, triple maybe more game transitions.

2. HyperSpin Mixed Pack Volume 1
In this pack there are generic transitions not specifically designed for any game in particular. These transitions are really great and the artwork is of top quality again. I installed the transitions and fired up HS. At first I was unsure of this pack as some of the transitions really didn't make sense with the games when scrolling through the wheel. In my opinion, most of the transitions work great in a generic capacity. For instance the Fire, Smoke, and most Particle transitions are great when scrolling through the wheel. After thinking about it for a while, the few transitions that did not make sense to me as generic, made A LOT of sense for specific games. For instance.
The blood effect looks awesome with the Splatterhouse theme I just did.
The slime effect looks great with the ghostbusters theme.
The lightning effect looks great with the ghosts and goblins/ghouls and ghosts themes.
Just copy and rename them to the game name and presto, couldn't be easier. There are many more examples. There is a Space Invaders particle transition, that applies to dozen's of space invader type games. It goes on and on... :)
3. Conclusion
The arcade override pack is a no brainer, unpack them, load up HS and enjoy.
The HyperSpin Mixed Pack can also be a no brainer out of the box in the same way as the arcade pack. Although I think it will be much more with a bit of community effort. If we determine games that the generic transitions can be specific to (there are many) it will make the pack even better. WE could pass along simple batch files or whatever to create these. For Exampe:
copy blood.flv splatter.flv
copy blood.flv mk.flv
Anyways, both packs are well worth it, and the more people who support them with their purchase, the more we will see. Can't wait!
