I'm using nestopia for NES games, games launch fine but when I exit them I don't have control anymore. It's as if I'm back on the desktop... because when I press buttons random things launch and happen.
When I press escape hyperspin goes back to normal, and is the main program. Help
Do you have HyperLaunch enabled in HyperHQ for your NES setup?

I"m not sure what I did differently.. but now it does exit
I have to press escape twice though, on the first press it makes the nestopia toolbar show up, then on the second press it exits. Any idea on how to get it to exit on one press without showing the nestopia tool bar?

go to your nestopia setting file en and edit the exit option its in the 1st part of the settings change the commnad there to Esc like this <exit>Esc</exit> worked for me
Man nestopia can be pretty finicky. I too was having the press ESC twice problem. I tried your exit trick in the nestopia.xml it was alt+x and i changed it to Esc but same problem i still had to press esc twice.
So i did a search in the xml for exit and found this.
<confirm-exit>yes</confirm-exit>
changed this to no and now it exits properly now.. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

You actually can change this in the nestopia window before using HS. Based on previous info I added this to the tutorial earlier so you can actually deselect confirm.

Hi Guys
I have unchecked the confirmation box and changed the ahk file to utilize Esc as the emulator exit key. But whenever I hit esc to exit nestopia, it takes me back to hyperspin but the controls are locked. I have to press alt-tab to reselect hyperspin as the UI again to re-establish wheel control. Ideas drying up lol ? Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Ok, so the first suggestion, changing "alt+x" to "Esc" worked for me. The gray bar still shows up on the top right before it exits, but it's good enough.
I tried the second suggestion, changing "conifrm-x" to yes and it actually asked me every time I exited "do you want to exit" and I had to click on yes, not sure why making that say yes worked for you, but just thought I'd share that
I'm sorry if resurrecting an old post is frowned on, but I have the same problem as the OP. Maybe someone has an idea?
I followed the tutorial. I am using Nestopia and HyperLaunch.
I configured Nestopia via the GUI to NOT "Confirm on exit" and configured the exit key to be Esc. I verified these Nestopia settings in the nestopia.xml file:
<confirm-exit>no</confirm-exit>
<exit>Esc</exit>
Everything works except... When I exit Nestopia by pressing my CP button mapped to Esc, Nestopia exits fine but HyperSpin loses focus and pauses/freezes. If I use the mouse or press alt-tab to give HyperSpin focus, it starts working again.
Please help :)

If anyone is still wondering about this...What I did was I went to the actual Nestopia program in my directory and then I remapped buttons from there. First make sure under preferences you turn off the confirmation on if you want to exit or not. Next go to the input screen and I think it is under File...Near the bottom it will say Exit is Alt-X I think. Remap that to Esc button. Then you will be good to go. Of course you will lose your gray bar. So for the gray bar I remapped that to Tab because Tab is the menu section when I play MAME games. So that left me with Emulation speed or something unmapped...I won't be using that function anyways. Do all of this from within the program via the directory it is installed in. That way it will save your settings. Then it should work just fine when you press ESC in Hyperspin via to exit the Nestopia.
