Contra - contra(Aabra_09-10-2008)

I figured it was about time we had a Contra theme. Anyways, I've cut out the main image although I'm probably going to create my own little plasma balls because they don't exactly cut out very well. I obviously still need to cut out the logo, make a background and tidy this picture up a little etc but here's what I have so far.

I wish I could cut out images as good as that... Even with the many many many tutorials I have done I still can't do it without going pixel by pixel. :(

haha - you should see the poster of the hot chick. :) I got the logo from that one - I was tempted to take the chick too! Anyways, here's the latest... I'm not really happy with it so expect changes but....

P.S. The way I cut stuff out is by using the polygon lasso tool and clicking a *lot* of times... then hitting the delete key. It's not that complicated it just involves a lot of carpal tunnel.

Edit: One thing I'm probably going to do is reverse the main image so that the guy covers up most of the wheel instead of the video - I think he'll do a better job at it.

Here's a bit of an update.... reversed him and got rid of a plasma ball.

Yet another update - the last one didn't work out so well. I adjusted the colour on the main guy to make him a bit less red and played around with the layout.... I like this better. On a side note - I was a bit disappointed that the video for some reason didn't have the music for the game which is a bit strange so now I'm torn between adding the music, or listening to the gunshots/etc from the video.

I would go the music route, imo - Contra music is very iconic, and I think it would give your already impressive-looking theme that much more 'pop'.

Ok, last one - I got rid of the third plasma blast... it just looked bad and was covering up a bunch of the video anyways. I also added the contra music to the background - it definitely gives it that contra feel. I'm going to upload it momentarily as I believe this is done.

Ok, I lied I guess when I said it was done. I made some minor changes to the video overlay, but more importantly I added a rock animation to the tentacles in the upper right making the aliens look alive! Wooooo! heh The logo also has a pulse animation.

I just tried out the theme and approved it.

I noticed however that the video that I downloaded from emumovies contra.flv is actually a video of one of the 1942 type games. Can anyone else confirm this?

Does anyone have a copy of the proper contra.flv?

That's weird - I didn't have that problem. I've obviously got the correct video file. I got mine from the torrent though, not the ftp. Weird. Anyways, thanks for approving it - everybody you can download this theme here:

I just logged onto the ftp donloaded contra and it was "contra". So the video is right on the ftp, where did you find the bad one exactly?
