I second this. The Atari 800 should not go unnoticed.

As much as I love atari 8bit, I really don't see a point in adding it. AFAIK atari 400/800/XL never had any real good exclusive games. They were all ported from arcade, or have superior versions on other consoles. Granted they were some of the finer ports of that era.
Atari 8bit was one of the first consoles to have 2 player fighting games on it. As well, it had a lot of kick ass hori shmups.
You can modify these to use harddrives and flash cards. I hear there's even a basic frontend for them. I'm thinking about doing it now that I have backups of all my atari systems.

I dont really agree.
For example, the game Dropzone is an exclusive masterpiece.

Exclusive except for the 6 other consoles it was ported for. I was going to mention that game as an "except," but wasn't up for the c64 vs atari debate that would go along with it

and What about "Star Raiders"

What about "Star Raiders"
I said good games.
I should be a fan of that game, because for years I was stuck with a 400 w/ only Star Raiders, and a Basic cartridge. And I'm still a fan of Basic!
Plus, don't take my statements as being anti Atari 8bit. I've had an active XL sitting next to me this entire conversation. Then there's the Atari 400 that's sitting on the shelf over my head. The only games that are ever within reaching range of my computer are always Atari. The reason why I say this is because I'm a die hard Atari fan. However, even I know there's superior alternatives. There may be 1 or 2 "exclusives" that are worthwhile, but does that really justify it?
