I use mame plus. Mainly because of the built in config file for my x-arcade (don't judge, im still a noob; it performs well and was easy to get started). Easy to configure mameplus.

had to modify hyperlaunch files to use mamep.exe though. I'll post my configs if you need them.

there's no need to modify hyperlaunch, just rename whatever mame you have to mame.exe

True. I had modified the hyperlaunch because mamepgui didnt like that I renamed mamep to mame. But I realize now that I could have pointed the gui to the renamed file instead.... live and learn I guess!

I've actually just changed to mameXT, its got hi score support built in, and image enhancement which is fantastic for folks with lcd screens. (street fighter III with Hq3? superb) oh i nearly forgot you can skip intro screens as well :)

hmmmm... what kind of image enhancement? more than the scanlines-tv that mameplus offers? I really enjoy those on some games (I have an LCD in my cab BTW)

And, more importantly, will it remember galaga hi scores? (that's the only one that matters around this house)

i think it has the same image enhancement options as mame plus, mame plus should also remember your high scores though, i think it comes down to whether or not hitotext supports the game
