I usedd to use Stella and really like it, now with HS I installed it and after configuring everything I can actually launch any game I want, but when I press ESC it goes to the Stella rom launcher, so it kinda breaks the whole HS feeling.

I would be willing to try another emulator, or if anyone has a suggestion on what to fix to make ESC exit Stella all the way to HS.

I use stella for 2600 and have no problems with exiting properly.

you need to edit the stella.ini file. it should be 'hidden' in you appdata folder. there is an option in there to set launcher to false. this should solve your problem...

note: if you try to launch stella outside of HS, it will not work due to the launcher not running...

hope this helps...

I used mess to run the Atari 2600. Tried stella but I had some sort of driver/runtime error.

Either way you can set a key to quit applications that don't normally have a way out, I'll post the script when I get home and can take a look at it.

I've got it mapped to coin2 on my xarcade, had to modify the mame hyperlaunch to not use that quick key and use coin2 plus player2 instead.

Is stella better than mess? I'd haven't decided 100% on which to use yet, but I'd really rather use mess because I already have it working on other consoles. Is the emulation as acurate with mess as with stella?

I never got stella going so I can't tell you exactly.

I figure it's an atari 2600, how hard is it to get accurate? I do like how mess is easy to configure, like mame. I say if you've got mess up and running, go with it!

Thanks, that was it, at first I couldn't find the ini file but then I set the folder options to show hidden folders, than I was able to hunt it down and change it, it works like a charm now, the only weird thing is that it won't play PAL games, neither from HS nor from Stella.

yeah, i have the same problem!

can't figure it out... are you running in a cabinet? weirdly, when i run on my pc, via my lcd monitor, they seem to work (and exit) fine, however when i try to play them via my cabinet, they crash stella...

Then it has to be some kind of resolution problem between the video card and Stella's PAL resolution settings or something like that, what kind of display are you using? I have a 32 inch TV hooked to the video card via component, straight from the video card (love this, on my past configuration I had to make me a VGA physical emulator and set my desktop to "cloned")

So far the only game in PAL I want to play is DoubleDragon.

i'm running a samsung 2433 lcd monitor, and an arcade cabinet coming out of a pair of 5750s Xfired...

it's defo a resolution problem that is causing stella to crash in the background when running pal games on the cabinet. i'm not that fussed by the 2600 though, so in no real rush to solve it.

I too am running Stella, and have 2 problems that i cant seem to sort.

The first is one that I have with a few emulators, and just havent had the time to look for an answer, and that is that upon exit my HS is all wide and the wheel is almost off screen.

The other is the same with stella and z36 or whatever its called.. and that is that I use an Xarcade Tankstick and there doesnt seem to be a way to edit the controls so they work with the tankstick. Seems that there are like 9 choices of controller, and all are hardcoded from what I can tell.

Anyone had any luck reprogramming custom control keys with stella?
