Hey all...

I just "upgraded" my happs Super Joysticks to Ultimarc Mag-Stik Plus and i thought i throw in my opinions of the pros on cons on it quick style...

Pros..
4-8way Switching works well
Solid feel

Cons..
Mounting - Fabricate bracket for my standard dynamo cab.. (Jap Layout)
LOUD microswitch noise.. even when control panel close and strapped
Long Throw... Have to max direction of stick
Microswitch Connectors .. Had to rewire.. bigger size

I am very 50/50 about these joysticks... The only reason im sticking with them is the switching abilities.. I like the "feel" and control of the super joysticks better. If i would have known i would have bought the U360 instead

Thanks for the input. I still haven't decided what joys to go with. I always hear mixed reviews on these but I need one that can switch...

Hi,

i´ve just upgraded from ultimarc magsticks to U360, an i can say the U360 are perfect in conjunction with HyperSpin and LEDBlinky.

But it was heavy work to get them runnnig and in the end a high price to pay.

1. There were some shipping & logistik problems. I´ve orderd the U360 with the longer handles and when they arrived i had to install the longer Handles myself because there were not ready installed. but the problem was that Andy from Ultimarc did sent out handles and parts that did not fit one of them was to thick??? Now after nearly 3 Month all parts arrived an they are working togehter.

2. The other problem was that the U360 did not work perfect right from the start i had the problem that they start to swing back on nearly all movements. is it realy bad when frogger goes most of the time one step back on every movement action. Dying under cars or drowning most of the time from selfmoverment. I tryed this with short or long handles same problem.
next step was to order harder springs and this round restrictor plates. And the same Shipping problems start anew i did not got the right parts :banghead: again after some more weeks every part arrived right

Now everything is installed and all works perfect, i can start every game and the controlls switch atomaticaly to the right joymap i can start a qbert or Viewpoint game and it works perfect with diagonal controls same for everyother control. Beside of games like Ikari Warrios wich needs this turnable joysticks and Assault with topfire joysticks.....

So at least i can say the U360 are perfect when you buy every special Options for them like hard springs / longer Handles & Round restrictor plate...

yea... my plan was to buy 2 mag sticks for 3-4 player and U360 for 1 and 2... from my experience on these mag sticks... i think im gonna swap out the magstiks for sanwa sticks to match the U360..

Since 99% of 3-4player mame joystick games are strickly 8-way

Anyone has any kind of input on the sanwa sticks?

I am also thinking of upgrading from my Mag Stick Plus's to the U360's

How tough was it to get them to auto update the correct maps for each game in mame?

Is the round restrictor the prefered way to go to get an arcade feel?

also I have a MVS Neo Geo Cab so my control panel is metal. There is no need to get the longer shafts for the U360 oval top.. right?

I thought the mag-stiks had a really short throw compared to others?

The u360's are nice I can play a ton of games but it doesn't feel like an arcade stick to me. I want to get the hard spring for it and the restrictor plates. All in all I am happy with them. They will need to be maintained though I have to clean mine every 3 months . My cab gets a crap load of play. More than I ever thought between family and friends it gets 10 to 12 hrs of hard play a week.

Supurb! All that hard work you put in it. Nice to hear it paid off. In spite of the cleaning :D

I use the Sanwa JLW-TM-8 in my cab i have 5 of them and have been very happy they are perfect for fighting games and even hold up well with pacman and old school games. My kids put about 20+ hours a week on them.

I still have my Mag stick plus joys in the box. Only very crappy thing is that one of the cover plates has a too large hole, so it looks like crap next to the other one when build in a CP. I still have to contact UM about this. But I'm lazy.

Yea Im pretty new and I just jumped into this but my cab is using sanwa JLFs with 8way gates on them. and its just superb along with seimitsu buttons. its freaking built bulletproof and the mount clearance is second to none. I have drunks regularly play on mine haha not one broke anything :)

I'm installing U360 for player 1 & 2 aswell and Sanwa for 3 & 4. Right now still using MagStick Plus. Once my new control panel is done then I'm switching.

if you need new cover plate what I did I bought some pieces of metal plate (from outlet boxes) from the hardware store and trace the size I need and drilled custom holes.
