Accessing HyperSpin forums behind a firewall?

Hey guys/gals,

Just wondering, am I the only member who accesses this site behind a restrictive firewall? ie: at work? I work for the Canadian gov, and basically their network restricts net access to any sites that have the word "arcade" and other sites they discover is related to "gaming". For example, www.vpforums.com (official visual pinball forums) can't be accessed from my work, neither can www.futurepinball.com. Any social sites like facebook? Nope, they’re barred too.

Anyway, they’ve also added some file hosting sites to their ban as I can’t see Retroborg’s attached pics. I wouldn’t be surprised if Hyperspin also gets blocked at some point, dang it.

So am I alone in this?

Just did a quick google search on the problem and I think the answer is a proxy site.

Go to google and type in: anonymous cgi proxy

It will come up with heaps of sites, you will have to find one that isn't already blocked and when you do you can type in the address into a toolbar and make sure you uncheck any script box options that might be there, hopefully you will be able to surf uncensored now.

I aprpeciate the link, however about a year ago, some guy here used a proxy site and was disciplined for it. No, it wasn't porn, but that was seen as irrelevant. The disciplinary action was felt justified as any means to circumvent the security of the network can also be used to cause harm to it.

Good to know about using a proxy site, might at least be useful from other areas. Thanks again. This isn't in any way a request for you to stop using Imageshack, for example I can appreciate the need to use larger pics so we can really see the details, etc. , just wondering if others have similar issues, how many are affected? Heck, I may be the only one!
