It seems I havn't had the pleasure :banghead: of installing 20 themes this week. Just something I noticed.

Im still goin pretty strong, just not as much on themes this week but more with working on HS bug fixes and additions. I'll start hitting some more themes soon.

hehe - no wall. As you can see I've been working on some.... other applications for Hyperspin. Like an incredible movie menu. :D I can't very well upload these themes though.

I've also obviously been working on cp overlays for a couple people the last few days.

Wow, movie themes opens up a whole new level in HyperSpin.

I have to agree with Captain Flint about the amount of themes though, I expected the amount of themes to increase exponentially.

I think this will still come once HyperSpin gains more and more options, I guess it's still early days.

Great looking theme there, but get rid of the video frame or get it under the image on the left! In my opinion.

Real life has hit me badly :-(

It's stopped my steady progress on CBM64 Theme and even my arcade cabinet build. Not a happy man. Likely to be like this for the next couple of weeks. Got a major release coming up and lots of personal commitments with family.. :-( Life sucks at time.. Lol

I hope everything is ok. RL may suck sometime but it IS RL, much more important than this gaming stuff. If it's just "busy", I hear you, I'm in the same boat but because of an addiction to NHL09, I'm cutting back on some sleep; its the only way to keep me happy :).

Dude, that IS hot like everyone's been saying. I have one suggestion for the movie thing... You could put the studio in the manufacturer's spot.

2008, Dreamworks
1999, Lions Gate

etc

Any chance you'll upload those movie themes elsewhere and possibly make custom ones? :)

Back on topic; I know how you feel, man. I've been refreshing HyperSpin about 25 times a day like a real addict. I think we have all become addicted to the sexiest FrontEnd ever made. :)

For me personally, what makes me so excited for new themes is that each one feels like a 'celebration' of a game. Someone took their precious time to craft this unique presentation for a game that actually means something to them. That we can all enjoy that hard work and enhance our overall enjoyment of this hobby and this incredible FE, imo, is not something to be taken lightly.

And hopefully we haven't hit a wall yet, as we have a LONG way to go :). I mean, we didn't even have a (regular) Pac-Man theme until RetroBorg graced us with his version a few days ago. In regards to MAME, I've wondered what will happen eventually when the 'popular' games have been exhausted. I mean, it seems silly to wonder that now, as there are hundreds of immensely popular games (just for MAME alone) for which themes haven't been crafted yet. We're presumably talking years down the line. As more people discover HyperSpin, and more talented individuals are motivated to contribue their skills, the hope would be that theme production will continue and even become more frequent. When you take into consideration that there are a lot of new games being emulated even now (look at MODEL 2 and NAOMI emulation, for example), the need for more themes for new games will continue. And if we move past arcade emus, certain consoles can have 100s or 1000s of games each (along with games specific to differing regions, etc.). And considering that even more recent systems (PS2, Gamecube, NDS, just to name a few) are constantly featuring better emulated states...it is no doubt a challenging, yet exciting task for us as a community. In fact, that is one of the most attractive aspects of this front end, to me at least - it fosters this wonderful community spirit which I haven't seen before. The more we create as a community, the better HyperSpin will continue to get. Kind of a FE 'for the people and by the people', to a certain extent:D

Aabra's (absolutely wicked) Iron Man theme just reminds us how far HyperSpin could potentially go. Certainly, we all recognize HyperSpin's potential as the best arcade/video game FE available. But it can be taken much farther than that and apply to all sorts of multimedia - movies, music, general PC games - you name it. I think that HyperSpin's ability to present this wonderful and unique visual/audio presentation makes it ideal for a number of applications - it just depends on how 'outside the box' we want to get. If there was a faction of HyperSpinners who started making custom movie themes (think Dark Knight, Iron Man, etc), there probably would be a lot of interest by people to make themes for their favorites, and then the snowball effect would continue for an entirely different facet of HyperSpin usage. And for PC games, people might want to create newer themes for non-arcade-style PC games: Bioshock, Mirror's Edge, who knows what else...FPS games? Strategy games? SCUMMVM? The possibilities are literally endless, and would allow HyperSpin to be used as a Frontend for a huge variety of uses.

wow...great post! Pretty much sums up why I like HS.

We are definitely not hitting a wall. Contributing takes time and we find that time when we can. I have been busy with work and family stuff so no new themes right now.
