I just thought I'd show off some of my movie themes work. Once I get a bunch more done I'll put up a torrent with the trailer videos and all for any who are interested. (The trailers had to be edited to remove the preview screen.)

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/w_OQfn1vJM0&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/w_OQfn1vJM0&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Ok, here's a mini-update. I don't really want to release this until I've made system themes for drama, comedy, classics, etc and filled each one with enough movies to make it worthwhile.

While the torrent I make will include the trailers (as they've been modified to cut out the 5 second green preview message - and any other annoying messages a lot of sites tack on) it obviously won't include the movies. So if you guys want to get started then you can start downloading the movies so when I do upload it it'll all work beautifully from the get-go. You can obviously just delete any themes and database entries for movies you don't want.

I'm also not sure what categories I really want. Action, Comedy, Drama, Fantasy, Horror, Animation and Classics are what I've got in mind so far. I'm thinking about maybe adding in a Crime one but that's probably going too far. I'm also not sure what category to put some of these films in so suggestions on that too would be appreciated. Is Braveheart action or drama? Hancock? It's hard to tell sometimes.

Anyways, here's the list of movies I've completed the themes for. You can find all of these movies on various torrent sites..... I mean video stores. :)

Amadeus
American Gangster

Batman Begins
Braveheart

Yeah, it's pretty neat. My favorite trailer so far is probably A Clockwork Orange. Just because it's so different. It's so damn trippy - just like the movie.

Check it out here:

I've started working on my collection of movies as well to replace my media center pc. How do you get the wheel to disappear when the trailer starts? I just started yesterday so I only have a couple built. I have trailers for my newer movies downloaded and I'm converting them to flv and building themes as I have time.

Sorry one more question. I have vlc working through hypersping if the movie is put into a single file. The vast majority of my movies are in dvd/vob format. I know the command line to get vlc to open a folder but I can't get it to work through hyperspin. Are your movies single files or are they in the same format as mine? Do you mind sharing your movies.ini file?

My movies are all single files. In a few cases where the movie was split into 2 or 3 files I use Easy Video Joiner or if that fails Allok Video Joiner to combine them into one continuous file.

To make the wheel fade out... that's just the normal alpha=0 setting on the wheel. You can do that for games too.

Anyways, I added this to Hyperlaunch to make it work:

;**********************************Videolan******* *************************

else if (systemName = "Movies" && executable = "vlc.exe")
{
hideDesktop()
Hotkey, %exitEmulatorKey%, CloseProcess
RunWait, "%EmuPath%%Executable%" "%romPath%%romName%%romExtension%"
}

and here's my movies.ini

your video preview looks very nice! I'm also working on custom themes to use HS as a media center on the 2TB LaCie HD MAX. I'm using movie wallpapers without video. I might add video later, but editing trailers is too much work and HS needs a delay of 1/2 seconds before showing the movie. I want to see the background first :p

I also want to use movie/game boxes as wheel images, but that doesn't work with HS :(

I'm also working on a custom template, so you can easily add games/movies without wasting much time. But I will open a new thread when it's done.

I've also added a few more wheels for documentaries, music video, animations and tv series.

good luck!
