I think I've got the setup pretty much figured out. The part I'm having trouble with is getting attract videos to work. I dropped them in \HyperSpin\Media\MAME\Video but for some reason they won't play. They are the ones from emumovies. I also tried putting them in other directories with no luck. Any suggestions?

Any suggestions?Since HyperSpin movies can be skewed, rotated, stretched and even have animations they have to be in .flv format. We are working on getting HS .flv videos on the EmuMovies ftp, but right now movies downloaded from EmuMovies will need to be converted from .avi to .flv. Before they will work in HS.

I have also been making medley videos to go along with the main menu themes using emumovies. They are coming out pretty good so far.

Should see quite a few Hyperspin releases by the end of the week popping up at EmuMovies, just need a couple of days off :) The conversion is not the hard part, its the naming, but other FE users will benefit from this as well as avi sets are being updated as well. Hyperspin has finally prompted me to do some long needed house cleaning :)

Are we talking about the previews videos here? If so, would it be possible to make a program that you could drag and drop the avi’s into that would convert them automatically to work? Just wondering as I currently have all the preview videos for Mame and it would be nice to convert what I already own rather than re-download them.

Its possible that redownloading them would be faster than converting them.

UltraFLV will encode them

UltraFLV will encode them

Will you be using the same ones if I decide to encode them myself?

Will the movies be available on EmuMovies the day of the release?

They should! If not right away very soon.
This solution would be for the people that dont have the bandwidth and are very impatient..

Well you see. In other states, citys and even country hi-speed is unavailable and your leased by the meg... Lets face it downloading the videos isnt an option for everyone.. Knowing that encoding them yourself is an option should make some people happy. Also if you wanted to add something circo doesnt have you can create yourself.

As the new video sets are released for HyperSpin realize a few things are happening, first sets are being audited and updated, missing games added, and sub par videos being replaced. Next hyperspin is using its own set of dat files that require the files to be named to the latest no intro standards. This is so new that none of the current EmuMovies sets are named using this standard. After all of that is done the are encoded into the flv format.

As a bonus the AVI sets for all other FE's are being updated as well.

Also all artwork sets will be converted to png to be hyperspin compatible.

What I want to know is how much stuff I am going to have to find or re-download to work with HyperSpin? I got full set movies, snaps and all that other good stuff for front ends like MA or GE but it does not seem like HS will use them from what I am reading...

All that stuff can be used but you will have to set that stuff up on your own. Like converting the videos. Or making your own default theme that supports the snaps, marquees, etc...

We are kinda stepping away from that artwork and going a different route, so its up to you how you want HS to look.

As for the videos, theres alot of expermenting going on for the conversion process and were getting now to what we feel is the best compromise, it shouldnt be that big of a deal to just download the flv videos than converting them yourself, not to mention the flv videos we will have will in some cases have different names than videos you already have. So rather than rename them also we strongly recommend redownloading them.

I am also converting all of my atwork packs to PNG to be Hyperspin compatible for those who would like to use them. Size jumped up a bit but who cares, right?

I can add jpg support if it seems necessary for anyone, should only take a few minutes. Guess it would help for large boxaet sets.

I personally don't want it. I hate jpegs and their lossiness.
