If you havent tried it yet, you gotta try it out. Make sure that once you create your player initially, go into the main menu and edit him some more (different hair, sticks, etc).
Then take the ice... its like nothing you have seen before... I actually feel like I am a member of the Phantoms working my way up to the flyers. 8 minute period length is perfect as well. You actually have to skate to the bench when your tired, and from there you watch the action from the bench like a real player. It is friggin insane.

Im 3 games in, had 2 goals in my 3rd game.

Also, you can take your pro player online, join a team/club with friends, and play a position (its 11 on 11 real players). Its sick.

eheh it's a great addictive mode, but I can't seem to get enough of the online league (I have a 10 player league going) and the fricken awesome online EA Sports League, where as you said you can bring your "be a pro" character in and play with 5 other guys (one controls the goalie!!!). Just fantastic, best sports game ever, even with the server issues they're having that makes it difficult to have more than 4 on 4 at times.

On of my friends was super happy, he'd been promoted from the 3rd, to the 2nd, then finally to the first line of his AHL affiliate, expecting a call to the "big show". Well, after a 3 game scoreless drought, he was demoted back to the 2nd line! LOL I love it!

Just a correction scrapple: it's 6 on 6 the max, as that's the most you can have at a time on the ice.

I just finally picked this up today. I own NHL 08, and have played the demo for 09, but I haven't got into it yet. Gotta finish up some Dynasty Warriors 6 first. Then its all hockey from there

I acquired this game recently and really need to check it out... I don't have a Live Gold account, but hopefully single player is just as fun.

I hope the PS2 version is as good as the others. I don't have a 360.

If I understand correctly, both the PS2 and PC versions use the older engine. The PS2 is understandable, the AI certainly feels less scripted (up to know anyway) but the PC version is probably just a lack of desire to put $$$ ressources into a good port due to low sales of the PC version.

Well I don't care about the graphics so much as I do the gameplay and be a pro mode etc.

The AI is a huge part of the game play but I've played the PC/PS2 versions before and they were fun, so that's all that counts.

Wow, Ive had this game for 3 weeks now and have only played the demo because Ive been busy. I finally cracked it open last night and WOW! I love this game. I just need to get a tad better, and then I think a team HS should be formed. Sounds like we have enough to get it going.

Ive owned almost every NHL game since 93, and EA has really done a great job on the NHL series recently....unlike every other game they've had their name on
