I put together this Neo Geo theme a good while back but just recently finalized it and zipped it up. However, I forgot to get feedback before hand, so please post your thoughts and ideas. The theme is very simple, the cabinet fades in with the video fading in on on top of the screen (much like BBB's NGP system theme). The marquee eases in from the top. Anyone familiar to the process of putting the mini marquee into the machine? I just kind of assumed that it slid in from the top, not really sure why, but it felt right. Here are some screenshots, the first is the theme as it has stopped on a game, the second is the wheel as it spins.

I personally like your theme alot. If I were to change anything about this at all it would be to add edge to the machine on the left and right sides where you would see T-Molding since this machine appears to have no side panels. That would really polish it off. I could add a video reflection option to HS so that themes like this could have a slight reflection into the control panel which would be nice if people wanted that.
Also just so everyone knows that this is an alternative theme. We also produced a full set of NEO GEO large logos that you could use also to go with the more traditional HS theme. Either way you choose they are both real nice.

Oh yeah, does the next releasemake it possible to use a default video overlay? If so I could just include a screen reflection or something as an overlay. I see what you mean about the sides. I may fiddle with that part of it in the future when I'm feeling particularly frisky.

Maybe you could add marquees in their positions? I think it would make the theme stand-out a little more

I'm not sure I understand the the suggestion you're making. Can you rephrase it?

I revised this theme by adding some screen glare for when there is no video playing and added side panels to the cab. Future release of HS allowing default video overlays may warrant another revision to this theme. Here is a screenshot.

He means on some machines the mini marquees or in slots on the top area you have, it might look cool to have that, maybe do a 1 slot machine look. We could even light it up possibly for an added effect. Maybe an extra artwork with a mini set of the marquees.

Oh Oh! Yeah I see what you're talking about. Yeah, If I end up revising this in the future I may add that!

You could actually add a default artwork4 with a slight glare that can even go over videos and non videos for extra effect also.
I havent acutally tried it but I think this theme could be revised like so.
Machine = default artwork2 with no movement, always stays there and cut a hole in the machine so you see through it.
Artwork1 is a default black square between the video and the machine. This will show when theres no video.
Video = no animation just fade in.
Glare = artwork 3 or 4
Baby marquees = artwork 3 or 4
Move the machine down a little and make the marquee area taller.

That all sounds pretty easy. And yeah I had considered in the past a few of those suggestions. I'll see what I can do in the coming weeks for this theme. Thank you for the input!

This looks great!
Dumb question though: is this theme for the NeoGeo home console emulator, or would it be applicable to a MAME theme too (somehow) since if I understand it right the same carts used in the arcade were used in the home console (well at least the same software code).
It would be slick if all NeoGeo games in MAME showed up with this theme, but would that require the GENRE stuff or some other identifier to flag it and use it?

I'm pretty sure we have MAME as the default emu in the settings for this system and it covers all games MVS and AES.
