    Talking PuckenPin 42"/26"/19"

    Hi!

Thought it was time to stop lurking around and show what I have come up with for now.

Just wanted to wait until my art was done.

Guess you never get a thing like this completely "done", so no more reason for me to hide.

    Spec.

42" LG (42LF2500) Full HD TV
    26" Telefunken HD-ready
    19" LCD Philips Monitor

    Intel DG45SG S-775 DDR3 Extreme Series

    4 GB DDR3 1066 Apacer RAM
    Gigabyte GTX260 896MB
    Geforce 7900 GTX
    OCZ SSD 30GB
    Intel Core Duo 3,0GHz E8400
    PSU 620W

All placed in an (old and dirty) Judge Dredd widebody cab(!)

And so, whitout futher ado... Here is:
    PuckenPin

Made the design myself from pictures of our honeymoon in the US, the guns where applied later in PS though!

But it´s me and my wife in the pictures (and even our hands on the coin door piece)

And the name?... well, guess we just like to call each other Pucken(!)

Black and white was the only option if the cab was going to stay in the living room. ...says it all!

Here´s some more detailed pictures from the artwork:

Took me forever as I never done any design like this but I´m really happy with the result. Printed on laminated vinyl for years to come!

Also designed my own instructions cards from some Hyperpin template I found somewhere to suit my design:

And finaly, I have made up my own custom animated DMD (thanks PinaColada DMD Art Guide)

Took me almost four days(!), but it sure looks awesome!

The cab now have an fully functional coin door,
tilt function through mercury switches - but now playing with MS Sidewinder USB Gamepad and XPadder with even better results

Flipper feedback via siemens relays - thanks chriz99 for all the help )

I hope to update this thread with more pictures as more has to be done...

Intend to go on with the LedWiz project as soon it get available (and as soon as I got more money to spend ...again)

And finally... Thank you ALL for the friendly atmospher and great support in this forum.

I NEVER could have done this without you!

    /Gustav

    Thanks a bunch master!
Really satisfied how it turned out!

Oh, can´t wait for the LedWiz project to finish!

How many power supplies do you got in your cab chriz?

    Thought of pre-order some stuff!

But I hope we all get a grocery list from led-tech.de later on!

Love the DMD animations. How do you animate them?

    Thanks man!

I re-used the pictures from the creation of my vinyl art and animated them in Adobe After Effects.

Quite powerful app but damn hard do grasp at first.

Easiest to apply the text within the app and then animate the pictures with movement and effects like resize, rotation and so on.

Used blending mode - screen to get transparency between the layers.

The rain effect is also made through AE´s effect library.

After the animation was competed I exported it to frames and applied the DMD-effect in Photoshop.

Then I re-imported them as a sequence in Adobe AE and exported them again as a animated gif(!) pjuh!

composition - add to render queue...
output module - Lossless, format: Animated GIF

Don´t know if it is my computer, but on my cab I found that the animation speed was best at 15-20fps in this final step. (created it in a 30fps comp)

I´m sure you can do many of these steps more efficient than me though!

That is very impressive. The art is beautiful, and the animated GIF is wonderful!
How do you run the animated GIF on the DMD in Hyperpin?

Not sure if my HyperDMD app can handle it, but it loads different images and scrolls through them (animates them). I can probably make a simple change to have it just load an animaged gif. That should allow for re-sizing and moving of the DMD.

I must thank scooter9988 for his Fireball build on that one.

I use windows active desktop in winxp (don't know if you can do this in win7)

    1. Right-click on the desktop background and click "Properties."

    2. Switch to the "Desktop" tab.

    3. Click the "Customize Desktop . . ." button.

    4. Switch to the "Web" tab and click "New."

    5. Select your DMD image and click "OK"

Your GIF will appear on the desktop.
Double-click it to select and drag it to a position of your choice

shilmover: That would be awesome, cuz I cant really hide windows with instant sheller as this also blocks active desktop activities(!)

Think I used well over 300 images in this .gif animation so this would be a great feature.
