Default GTX 480 to component video. Recommended device?

I finally found a 4:3 tv with a component hookup! Sony trinitron 27 inch for $30.00 on craigslist. I have already purchased a converter to take vga and make it composite/s-video, but I now need component. What device do yall recommend for achieving this? Will it be a lot clearer than s-video? ie is it worth the cost?

    Thanks!

Yeah if you take an RGB signal and then convert it to crappy composite (and slightly less crappy s-video) then try to re-convert it to component I don't think it's gonna look that good.

edit: looks like the cables are about three bucks...

re-edit: haha looking at some of the reviews it may not actually be that simple for some setups...

Will those cables work. The reviews lead me to believe they don't

"TV-out feature on video card is required" which my gtx 480 doesn't have

Look up "component converter." The wire dongle alone won't work. The converter will translate the VGA signal into component so your TV can interpret it and display the picture.

    I hope this will work:

I also hope it looks and acts better than s-video.

Anyone else notice scrolling issues. like V-sync is off, but only every once in a while.

    *edit*

Is it possible to force the TV to run @ 240p? The standard def for an NES? Maybe an emulator that will do that?

Something to think about, the 480 is known as the hottest graphics cards to ever be produced.. i know first hand because I can heat up my entire house with my three gtx 470's.. lol.. but anyways if you are putting that graphics card in a cabinet (or worse, in a computer case inside a cabinet) then it will be getting extremely hot and can for sure do some damage. Just make sure you use fans, buy a nice GPU cooler or at least not have it in a case inside the cabinet. Just some advice from someone who experienced this first hand.

One other quick question, how come you need the quality to be worse instead of using the VGA input of the Sony? Unless I am just misunderstanding this, I am just curious.

edit: I reread all of this and realized you are going from the 480 VGA (actually DVI to VGA adapter right) to a tv that has component. I have done this and the quality is the same honestly. Now bringing it down to composite or S-video would be terrible quality IMO. With component video the quality will be as good as it can get with that TV.

BTW, that link you posted is the exact thing I used awhile back, only difference was gpu was an old 7600gt card that had VGA output. The 480 is DVI and digital, using a dvi to vga adapter and then to the VGA to component box may not all work together since its digital to analog. But hey might as well get it and be the guinea pig for us all so we know.

Yeah. So. I have 2 setups now. I have a hyperspin cab, which will focus on arcade games (mostly mame games). This has its own computer. I plan on having another computer that hooks up to this sony wega tv I have and I will use retro gaming controllers on it. So like 2 nes controllers (for nes games), two sega saturn controllers for sega saturn, sega cd, sega genesis, sega master system and 32x, two 360 controllers for SNES (basically same layout) and more current games. And possibly 2 N64 controllers.

The idea is to have a gaming setup like I did when I was a kid along with an arcade for more arcady titles. If this makes sense.

    *EDIT*

That is one amazing setup you have in your sig! Great job!
