Default Sega model 1 and other wierdness

So I went and uploaded a few xml files for arcade system boards and I noticed hyperlist is stripping some of the games out. A good example is my sega model 1 xml. Its stripped out Star Wars Arcade (swa) and Wing War (wingwar). I have both games working pretty well. While star wars arcade might be in japanese I feel its very playable but wing war is in english. I am using mame64 on a fairly average system. There are only 5 games for the sega model 1 wheel. Any idea why hyperlist is stripping these games out? I noticed it did it with some of the other xmls I uploaded also

Most likely because those 2 aren't on the MAME db (Lashek would need to confirm if this is the case), that's due to both games being marked as not playable on the MAME driver info. I know that both of them had several issues, SWA for example wouldn't play the music due to MPEG patent restrictions and the skeleton device for Z80 MPEG sound board was only added on 145 and is probably still far from being implemented.
Still if you think they are good enough to be considered playable I'll add them to the MAME db, this is the kind of feedback I need in order to tweak the filtering system. Lmk the other games that also went MIA and I'll have a look at those as well.

True SWA doesnt play music and everything is in japanese (even Admiral Akbar). But who needs english to blow the crap out of some tie fighters! Wing War plays just fine, however I have learned my flying ability in that game is far from what it was when I was younger playing that game in the arcades. Setting up this model 1 wheel brought back allot of memories!

So you think they should be added?
If you could list those extra games you mentioned I'd also be interested on checking them out.

Yes sir I would add them.

I have the following as the games that were released for the Sega Model 1 board..

    rom - game - year
    wingwar - Wing War - 1994
    swa - Star Wars Arcade - 1994
    vf - Virtua Fighter - 1993
vformula - Virtua Formula - 1992 (clone of virtua racing - up to 8 player version)
    vr - Virtua Racing - 1992

Er what extra games? You mean in the other wheels? I need to balance the lists I uploaded to the ones I actually have to see what was stripped out / missing.

I do have one question tho, Brolly, How hard would it be to add what bios / system each MAME game uses? I like to break up my games by system / board.

Yeah I meant on the other lists not on the model 1, you said some games were also removed on the other lists you uploaded. If you want to send me both lists and can compare them easily, you can put them on the ftp. I'll add the missing model 1 games to HL then, will also include both Wing War clones.

Sorry, but didn't understand what you're asking on your last question. What do you mean adding the bios? To where? Also remember not all games need a bios, for some the driver would be the best info you can get.

I figured using the bios info would be a quick way to split the games up by system. Would using the driver do the same thing? That would be ok for ones without a driver or bios. Those are older games I would just leave on my mame wheel anyways or use in a "classics" wheel.

I will upload the XMLs to my folder on the ftp later tonight after i get home from work.

All games have a driver, not all require a Bios. Filtering by driver won't work for all systems, example Atomiswave games they require the atomiswave bios, but use the naomi driver.
You can generate a list with all that info using Mame.exe -listxml.

Ah that's good stuff to know right there

OK, what I will do is rebuild my lists using a full 145 xml. I will test all the games and make tweaks as needed. Then I will upload a copy to hyperlist noting what was stripped out. Then I will post the results here and then upload my final xml to my ftp folder.

I tend to follow the following convention for selecting what roms I use.

World -> US -> asia (if in english) -> euro (if in english) -> japan (as long as I can work / guess my way around with pictures) -> bootleg -> screw it the games not worth putting on the wheel.

I tend to ignore if its a clone or not as long as it fits my needs.

My goal is to break MAME down into the main arcade systems and put a single version of what's left into a single MAME wheel minus casino, mahjong, and adult games.

Sounds good. I can get you a list of all drivers and bios and if you want to select which ones you would like I can get you a list of all rom names for that specific driver/bios.
