We need a MAME Default theme. Post your attempt in this thread!

I just realized that we really do not have a default MAME theme... Below is what I am currently using that I just threw together in 2 seconds this evening. It definitely does not do a HyperSpin MAME Default theme justice, but it isn't bad.

Please post your default MAME theme below and we'll see if we can get some good ideas going around.

Also, for a default theme you don't want many animations as you will have to see them over and over. My theme nothing is animated right now as it is just a basic default theme. Post what you have!

I threw this together for mine, similarly I didn't upload to HS because it's not really good enough for public consumption.

I was considering making one but having my own cab as the pic, similar to the default NeoGeo theme, so when a flv is playing on the "monitor", it is my own.

Both your themes would do the job, I don't necessarily agree with the need to limit animations, but yeah, I guess they could get monotunous. I would probably still create the "game.xml" and simply give it a few random different animations, maybe 5 different types for the rest of the games (yeah, hardly "default" anymore).

Would like to use one of the mame default themes that you guys are showing. Could you please post them with the needed ini files etc, so that they could be used.

How does one go about using a default theme in HS? Is there a setting that needs to be changed? It seems the only way to use the default theme is to rename the default theme for each game in the .xml list. Is this true or am I missing something here?

Any game that has a theme made will have a gamename.xml file in the themes folder for that system.

When a game doesnt have a theme.xml then it is not considered a theme and will revert to the default settings which are found in the ini file for that system.

A scenario would be that you have maybe some boxarts in one of your artwork folders. Your database is populated with some games. Then when you go into that system those games boxarts will animate in by default using the animation settings in the ini file even though none of those games have a theme available yet by one of the theme creators.
