How to get the best performance for your cab.
So You want the best possible set up, with a 3 monitor set up? We have been working on this for 6 months, and after 6 months of testing, and refining, I present to you, Chris99 and H4CK3R's set up configs, and tweaks.
Spec's for set up. Each PC is Different, but we fine that this has worked almost perfect in our cabs. If it doesn't apply to you, keep reading, even duel monitor set up's can gain some much needed FPS from what we are about to share, all in one Spot. If we fine something new, and better, we will amend this post to set for current use.
OS XP 32 bit sp3, Black Edition, Or Full install.
CPU Quad Core, 3.2 or higher.
MB 2x pci-e 16x slots (running at 8x/8x or 16x/16x is fine), like p55/45 or x58 chipset
Ram 4 GB
HDD 120 gigs Sata, or SSD 64 GB ( if you can afford more do so, never know what new tables, art, ect will bring )
GPU 2 Identical gpus, like 2x nvidia gts250 1024mb ram, or 2x nvidia gtx260
GPU Driver Nvidia 182.5 works best so far.
This space is for installing everything
I will amend this with Photo's and a how to, for everything later, or once I go to far and crash my system again =p.
PC tuning.
Turn off all unnecessary parts from bios, like Firewire, IDE, comports, raid and so on.
XP tuning
- Disable all unnecessary windows services, disable the pagefile/virtual memory
- Helps a lot: use the tool "Set_Affinity_II" (with autostart-possibility) to switch all windows-tasks to core0 and vp, flash, uvp, hp to the other cores (like vp core1, flash and uvp to core2, hp to core3)
http://edgemeal.110mb.com/SetAffinity/index.htm
- You can also test vp/ flash/ uvp/ hp with other task-priorities (from normal to high for example). Maybe this helps a bit, too
Screen Set up's
-Playfeild 1080p
-Back Glass 1280 x 1024
-DMD area as small as possible.
set your dmd-screen to 640x480 and 16-bit color. this hardware-downscaling-effect gives an more authentic dmd-look (better than native resolution) and all tables will speed up, too.
For TV's
- turn off all "picture enhancer"
- disable 100/200hz in your tv options menu
- check out if you run in 1:1 mode (dot to dot without overscan)
- set your tv to game/pc mode
- verify your windows gpu setting (set to 60hz native)
Chris99 and myself will be making Video tutorials on everything, and will help with any problems, or suggestions you might have, Please leave feedback, and questions in this thread.

Especially the Set_Affinity_II core tool works very well on my cab. I played Monopoly never so smooth before and TOM/TOTAN captive balls are nearly stutterfree now.

Im not sure XP black is the ideal version to install, as it is very over blotted, installs alot of shite you dont really need and probably use more system resources than a normal version of xp

I am using standard XP SP3/32bit. Works awesome with the tweas posted above.
IMO the best thing is a clean standard xp instead of tiny or black versions.
If you want Bling Bling, go with the black version :P
