How the feck do I change discs in multidisc games in Hyperspin?

I'm using HyperSpin with RL to emulate about 30 different systems.  For uniformity sake, I prefer Retroarch as the main emulator.  I know RL has MultiDisc support for PSX Mednafen cores but when I try to swap discs in Sega Cd or Sega Saturn for example using retroarch's mednafen or genesis plus x cores through RL's MultiGame feature it won't work.  Is bringing up RetroArch from within HS the only way to swap discs with these cd-rom based systems and most others?  Seems really cumbersome.
