Alienware Alpha?

has anyone tried Hyperspin on an Alienware Alpha? I know it has full windows 10 capabilities in desktop mode, just wondering if this is an option as I look to get a strong gaming pc without a crazy pricetag.

If you have other good options, please let me know!

Lastly, I am looking to utilize Hyperspin with Moonlight (stream to other devices). I have a raspberry pi3 and a shield tv. This alienware alpha would work as my "hub" where hyperspin lives and the streams would go to the seperate systems via moonlight (or perhaps through Steam? Idk if thats a possiblity). Anyone working with this set-up or have any ideas there if it should work or not?

Thanks in advance!

I've got an Alpha running my arcade setup, it's great!  It runs everything well, and even more modern Steam games as well.  The last game I added was the new Killer Instinct, and it runs smooth on medium settings.

Drawbacks: The is no way to upgrade the video card, so you won't be updating it in the future.  It also only has 1 monitor out, so you can't setup a second screen or marquee screen.

I've only stream to it, not from it, so I can't comment on that.

Good luck!

Which system did you pick up? base model or i5 or i7?

Secondly, your alpha isnt where your hyperspin are currently playing on/ the bulk of the work in on another pc? Just trying to really grasp what I need.

Goal is to emulate up to Gamecube (maybe even PS2 if it has the juice!)

@donald5,

What do you mean by a marquee screen?

I am curious about this myself. I have an Alienware Alpha i3, and I upgraded to a 256gb SSD, Windows 10, and 15gb of RAM. I am mostly into arcades, so I would like to run Taito-X, Triforce, Sega Model 3, Sega Chihiro, and Naomi. But I would like Gamecube, PSP, and PS2 in 1080p

I have no interest in PC games, so the lack of video card makes no difference to me.

I have an Alpha i3 with win 8.1 on it, 8gb ram, and an SSD for the OS. My hyperspin setup is on a QNAP network drive. I'm wired to it by ethernet. Plays many modern steam games and im emulating up to PS2/Wii just fine. The Alpha is a great bang for the buck setup.

For the marquee screen, I was talking about HyperMarquee and similar setups, to display artwork and video on a second screen.  Since the Alpha only has one video out, you can't do that with an Alpha.  So it may not be the best solution for a cabinet build.

That said, it runs a lot of modern games well, up to Wii/PS2.  I've had it running some older steam games like Burnout Paradise well.

It has struggled with current games, like the Win10 version of Killer Instinct.  It's close to running well, with some screen tearing and frame rate drops.

I've got an i3 with 8GB, and a standard hard drive.
