SkyHighGam3r Gam3B0x Demonstration

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

So we've all seen the custom arcade cabinets people make; and they are really cool. However, as cool as they are, being a 90s kid... Gaming happened, in my experience, on home consoles because arcades had basically vanished.

So taking that custom arcade idea, and applying it to that for a game console instead I have created what I like to call Gam3B0x.

It's about the size of an Xbox One, and universally accepts USB controllers.

It runs Windows 10, and boots right into HyperSpin

CPU: Intel i7 4790k
GPU: AMD R9 390X 8Gb
RAM: 16Gb DDR3
HDD: 1x 1Tb Internal, 1x 3TB External

It plays nearly all games from the following systems:

Atari Lynx
Atari Jaguar

Commodore Amiga
Commodore Amiga CD-32

Microsoft MS-DOS
Microsoft XBOX
Microsoft Xbox 360
Microsoft Xbox One
Microsoft Windows (Plays DOOM & Witcher 3 on Ultra 1080p 60fps)

NEC TurboGrafx 16
NEC TurboGrafx CD

Nintendo Game Boy
Nintendo Game Boy Color
Nintendo Game Boy Advance
Nintendo Virtual Boy
Nintendo DS
Nintendo 3DS
Nintendo NES
Nintendo SNES
Nintendo 64
Nintendo Gamecube
Nintendo Wii
Nintnedo Wii U

Panasonic 3DO

Sega Game Gear
Sega Master System
Sega Genesis
Sega 32X
Sega CD
Sega Saturn
Sega Dreamcast

SNK Neo Geo MVS
SNK Neo Geo AES
SNK Neo Geo CD
SNK Neo Geo Pocket
SNK Neo Geo Pocket Color

Sony Playstation Portable
Sony Playstation
Sony Playstation 2
Sony Playstation 3
Sony Playstation 4

Here is a video showing how the interface looks:

 Xbox/ 360/ one/ PS3 / PS4

Little fairy's and unicorns too.....

Why is that so outlandish? There's a significant chunk of all of their libraries that work just fine.

I show a couple of them running like Ghostbusters: The Video Game, Castlevania - Lords of Shadow, and Dead or Alive 5: Last Round.

Or did you even watch the video?

If you have working XBOX / 360 One PS3 / And PS4 emulators you need to share those. Because to date there are no known emulators for those systems capable of playing "nearly all the games" as you claim.

Xenia is the most advanced Xbox 360 emu I know of and can play a handful of Xbox 360 games, but it plays them slow and very glitchy, and this is a very recent development since they added the Vulcan back end.

For xbox there are czbx, dxbx, and xeon which between them can play a glitchy game of Halo. Xqemu is probably the most advanced Xbox emu as it can go in game on a handful of games such add jet set radio, panzer dragoon, and a few others, but nothing is really playable.

PS3 has only one working emulator that can run the bios, and that is it.

Xbox One and PS4 emu's? That's a complete joke.

If you have working emu's for these systems on please, PLEASE upload them to the download section. There are many people who would love to try them out.

There are no working emulators for those systems, he's just using the Steam versions of those games.

Exactly what Agent 47 said.

I didn't mean to insinuate I had some magical emulators for these systems.

There are huge amounts of their libraries though that you can play just fine on a computer without needing to resort to emulation.

I thought it was a cool idea though, from the perspective of the frontend. This way, when you are just using a controller, it feels just the same as booting up an ISO or ROM.

Sadly you still can't play Jet Set Radio Future, or Halo 3, or Uncharted etc.

Naturally any 'true' exclusive to those un-emulated systems would be unplayable.

Ah I see. That makes sense. I love that idea. I had tried at one point to get my Steam Games to open and run using Hyperspin, but couldn't figure out how to do it exactly. Is there a tutorial on how to do that some where that still works? Seems like the ways I am finding no longer work.

The tutorials I found were odd too.

Basically, you setup your XML like normal, and then in RocketLauncher, go to the PC Games system, and the Modules section, then edit the global settings for PC Launcher.ahk. Choose add a game, then pick your game from the list on the XML.

After that, you will see a field below called "Steam ID".

Go to steam, right click the game you want and choose "Create desktop shortcut"

Then right-click that shortcut and go to properties.

The URL it uses will have a section of numbers like, \12345 at the end. That number is your Steam ID.

You might have to fill out the AppWait field as well, which you can just browse to the actual games .exe.

After that, they should boot fine.

You can also choose how you want the game to exit from a drop down there too.
