Hey Guys.

I am a a complete novice  an i have just built Just built a arcade cabinet with 2 player control panel 8 buttons a side plus player1.player2 buttons coins buttons for each player and 2 additional buttons"enter exit"

I have connected all controls using a ipac2 usb to my pc, pc is running HS 1.4 with 180 systems.

My problem is mapping keys, Example i open mame then press Tab key to enter setup i map all controls and all works fine, UNTIL i exit game and go back in all controls are lost, it appears not to save, i have tried Mapping controls within mame via HS, and via RL and opening mame by it self and nothing works.

I would like the best way forward into mapping my controls across all systems using my ipac2 and arcade controls. Guys please bare in mind i am a complete novice so please explain to me in simple terms please.

Many thanks guys hopefully i can stop bangging my head lol

Thanks

Ur probably going to need to hook up a mouse to it first, then open up each emulator outside of hyperspin, find the settings tab for controls in the upper right corner of most emulators (u may need a keyboard also to get out of full screen, either alt + enter or esc) once u find the button configuration tab its just a matter of selecting which button on ur cab corresponds to each button of the emulator. Also, some emulators have a .cfg or .ini file that can be edited manually to set controls, but try doing it through the emulator first before delving into those files.

For mame the same applies, open it outside of hyperspin first and try changing ur key layout, and exit back out to see if your changes stick, also check to make sure the .cfg file which stores ur controls isn't set to "read only" by right clicking it and going to properties.

I'm assuming that since you mentioned your a novice and have somehow got 180 systems running but can't map the keys is you have brought one of those hyperspin hdd off ebay or Web somewhere and here's where the problems will start.

It sounds like your MAME file that saves you MAME settings is set to read-only in windows, just like BattleDonkey said. Change it to read-write and it should be fixed.

Like the others mentioned you need to set up your controls on a per emulator basis and make sure they're working outside of RocketLauncher/HyperSpin first. If you bought the drive and didn't build it then that might be a hugely frustrating job. Good luck.

I-pac come with default Mame setting, it will work out of the box with MAME. Unless you want to remap the I-pac keys to something else then you will need to follow above thread of Madhatter.  Other emulators example RA you will need to map per system .  few emulators like sega model 2 & 3 those are waste of time need map the keys for each game or use xpadder
