Mapping keys for all emulators

Hey Guys.

 

I am a a complete novice  an i have just built Just built a arcade cabinet with 2 player control panel 8 buttons a side plus player1.player2 buttons coins buttons for each player and 2 additional buttons"enter exit" 

I have connected all controls using a ipac2 usb to my pc, pc is running HS 1.4 with 180 systems.

 

My problem is mapping keys, Example i open mame then press Tab key to enter setup i map all controls and all works fine, UNTIL i exit game and go back in all controls are lost, it appears not to save, i have tried Mapping controls within mame via HS, and via RL and opening mame by it self and nothing works.

 

I would like the best way forward into mapping my controls across all systems using my ipac2 and arcade controls. Guys please bare in mind i am a complete novice so please explain to me in simple terms please.

It's probably due to the way mame is exiting before it has a chance to save the config file.

What is the key assigned to exit mame (you will find this by using the tab key)?

Configure your controls then press the exit key as assigned within mame (not to be confused with rocketlauncher).

Ps. How is it that you have a HS with 180 systems but you are a novice?

Would have thought the journey setting up so many systems would bring some sort of experience ?

You can also set up a ctrl cfg file and use that in your mame ini file.

thanks for help, will check it out now an update you guys with my progress.

 

i have 180 systems as my kind friend let me clone his drive, but he uses his setup on laptop with xbox controllers using xpadder, were as i have an arcade cab, i asked him first but he has never used ipac so i am stuck and being a novice it is very difficult to take in, will check out What is the key assigned to exit mame (you will find this by using the tab key) this now, also in RL i done the following please see see images

as this is were i have been messing trying to resolve

 

also i remapped within ipac settings so not sure if this will of done anything, is there away to reset the ipac to factor settings if needed?
