LCD Marquee

Anyone got any experience with LCD marquees?

Anyone got one fitted in their cab?

Apparently these guys make them to order any size that's needed. Not cheap at all, but man would it look cool.

i thought about it a lot and came to a conclusion that it's a nice gimmicky idea but not very practical for a home cab, and the sizes that i've seen really don't look good proportionally.

i also been looking on this:

they are much more affordable and i actually think they look better, a kind of pinball machine look. and they are bright as hell.

Yeah I'm thinking about one of those too.

The company on the link above apparently makes the LCD marquees any size you like. They do cost serious money though.

I had some discussion with Chris about a LCD-Screen as a Marquee and you find some very nice examples on YT. But than I took a closer look to the necessary screen and couldn't find a single one below a 1000€/$.

Beside that it would be a waste for my own system, I want to tell you my idea.

If you go and install a semi-transparent Plexi together with a mini Beamer (like ECsee ES130 Mini DLP) it could be a good compromise. Of course the resolution is not as good as a screen and I do not have a clou about how the result will look like but, whoever want to have a animated Marquee could give ot a try.

Or just hide half a normal screen in the cab (depending on you cab style, works better for modern/viewlix/candy type cabs than older styles where the marquee part comes forward instead of behind/in line with the monitor).

Or devide it up so it shows your fixed cab marquee on top and the bottom half the game's marquee. Or system on top, game below, or marquee plus move list/controls, whatever you might want.
