fshgrind Posted April 19, 2015 Share Posted April 19, 2015 I have an old cabinet that was painted black over the original decals, etc. I took a sand belt to see how easy it would come off. not so easy. i just did it in a couple areas on one of the sides, hard to get to the bare plywood. (from what i can see, it looks like an old defender cabinet). What is best practice? Just seems really hard to take off all the paint. is this what most people do or is there something that i am missing? I am using a 50 grade sand belt. Very interested in other people's opinions. Kermyb123 Posted April 20, 2015 Share Posted April 20, 2015 MEK or Acetone. Consumer based paint removers (Strip-eze) may get the paint off with a scarper - then back to the acetone or MEK.
