lcd flat panel for cabinet

Since it's so hard to get a 4:3 lcd flat panel, i will be going with 16:9 flat panel.  I was curious if this is the right move?  also, can a 16:9 monitor be set up in hyperspin to show 4:3?  How is everyone doing their screens nowadays?  I'm looking at a 23 or 25 in widescreen.  but would want to set it up to show 4:3 if that is possible.  Or leave it widescreen?

Thanks!

I'm using a 23.6" widescreen in my cab and I feel it was good choice. Not worth the time/money hunting for a 21" 4:3 for me.

All my emulators use the game's native resolutions, so it usually displays at 4:3. Definitely will look strange if you stretch it to fit. I'm also using the hyperlaunch bezel graphic overlay to fill in the black space. Like this. Looks great to me.

I found a 22" 16:10 monitor to be the perfect compromise.  4:3 mostly fills it and modern games still look great.  22" was not too large to make the older games look terrible.  Although 16:10 ratio is getting rare now, you can still find them.

I'm using a 32'' widescreen tv and set the ratio at 4:3 for my games. You can always use a bezel to hide the black bars, in fact, I'm thinking about making a bezel by using smoked glass to hide them. Now with the crt filters that emulators use, you can tweak the image to look awesome despite the screen type. Good luck with your project.
