Any article can be grouped into any category or subcategory by adding text like [[Category:Category_Name]] to the bottom of the page. The main Categories I've already started are...
I've also created sub-categories under Themes called...
"Namespaces" are used by the wiki to group articles of a common subject together. Generally you'll know you're in a namespace's page if the page title is something like "Namespace:Page Title". They're like 'Sections' which pages can be assigned to by putting the namespace in the page's title.
To make the Themes categories more controllable, I've made two custom namespaces for articles that will go into those categories. The namespaces are:
Doing this means that we can set privileges seperatesly for each namespace; so only users that are members of the Art Team (see below) are allowed to edit pages with the Official Theme namespace.
I'm not sure if we really need the User Themes namespace or not, but it's there for the time being anyway.
With MediaWiki, we can also define custom User Groups. So I've created a new user group called "Art Team" that has full editing control over pages in the Official Themes namespace.
While the HyperSpin project is in its beta stage, only members of the Art Team will have access to any of the theme files that are uploaded and available from the wiki. (I'm still working on this feature, but it shouldn't be too difficult to impliment).
I've allowed .swf and .flv files to be uploaded. I figured SWF files will be useful for including screencast walk-throughs in pages. To include an .swf file in a page, upload your file as usual (link is under Toolbox in the sidebar) and then put this somewhere in your page...
<swf>myfilename.swf</swf>
I'll also be including the EmbedVideo extension, so people can easily embed YouTube videoslike this...
{{#ev:youtube|lEgaqXsavYA}}
This will result in...
Similarly, you can also embed Vimeo videos.
{{#ev:vimeo|1304735}}
This will result in...
